A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THE TEACHINGS IN THE BASIC CONCEPTS COURSE.
01. "Now that you are a believer", which is the 1st teaching of the BCC seeks to supply a spiritual map and assurance of salvation. Furthermore there is also a statement of the terms, conditions, parameters, promises, directions, relationships, destination, identity and resources for the new Christian's life. Finally there are some guidelines for finding a spiritual home.
02. "God's Plan of Redemption", is a map that shows everyone's need of salvation, how salvation in the Bible starts in the Old Testament and is fulfilled in the New Testament. Most importantly, it explains the legal and moral aspects of salvation i.e. Justification and Regeneration. How God regards sin and provides the solution for it through the objective and subjective work of Jesus by means of His Living and Dying for us.
03. "Jesus as the Word of God", maps out a very simple explanation of the Trinity and how we relate to God as three in one. The Word of God became the historical Jesus only at a certain point in time, when He was fathered and thus became the Son of God.
04. "God's Plan of Restoration", is a map about how the Kingdom of God is being established, through the Church in the hearts and mind's of men. How the Church came into being, declined in spirituality and has subsequently become restored. It also helps new believers make sense of the question, "Why are there so many Churches"? Furthermore, it explains Church ministries and how one can find one's place in it.
05. "The Discipline of the Daily Devotion", is a map that takes the model of the Tabernacle of Moses and the Lord's Prayer. It shows how to understand the elements involved and how to apply it in one's daily devotion.
06. "How to do Bible study", is a map that helps believers to look at the scope and the various study methods of the most exciting book in history.
"The Foundations", is a map that is based on the manual by Dr. Derek Prince and is an exposition of Hebrews 6:1-2, which constitutes the essence of the Christian's spiritual foundations, on which the rest of his spiritual house is built. Dr Prince's manual is unsurpassed and one of a kind. Why try and re-invent the wheel? The idea of the BCC was not to boast concerning lots of personal revelation and a measure of originality, but to seek to produce the best possible resource, to get the job done. For this reason, "Foundations" by Dr. Derek Prince was adopted.
The following teachings BCC 07 -13 are very brief summaries of the seven teachings by Dr. Derek Prince. It should really only serve as a brief introduction or overview of his manual. I strongly suggest that all serious believers and students should personally acquire and work through "Foundations for Righteous Living".
Furthermore, it is my personal opinion that very few Pastors and Teachers will be truly effective, unless they have a solid grounding in the foundations of the faith.
07. "Foundation for Faith", places Jesus at the core of our faith upon which everything is built. Jesus is the Living Word of God.
08. "Repent and Believe", explains the basis of scriptural repentance and belief in Jesus as Savior.
09. "Doctrine of Baptisms", shows the meaning and applications of the different baptisms for the believer.
10. "Holy Spirit", is a basic explanation of the Holy Spirit, His work in the believer and the resultant, "baptism in the Holy Spirit".
11. "Laying on of Hands", is a Biblical command for the impartation of healing, gifts, blessing and commissioning leadership.
12. "Resurrection of the Dead", deals with the state of the dead and when resurrection will take place for believers and unbelievers.
13. "Eternal Judgement", explains judgement now and later for believer's and unbeliever's.
14. "The Blood Covenant", deals with the Old Covenant in the Old Testament, which culminates in the New Covenant instituted by Jesus in the New Testament and the conditions and benefits for believers.
15. "The Covenant Meal", is derived from the New Covenant that Jesus made with His original disciples, the Apostles. Water Baptism is a personal identification with Jesus, in salvation (not repeated). Celebrating the Covenant meal is the Church's corporate identification with Jesus as the Body of Christ (repeated as often as possible).
16. "Authority of the Believer", issues from the Blood Covenant that we have in Jesus, through our salvation.
17. "Faith", is the best exposition of faith available and is by Dr. Derek Prince. Eleven aspects of faith are presented, which presents a wonderful Biblical balance.
18. "Prayer and Fasting", is not only the believer's lifeline with God, but also brings about the purposes, will and Kingdom of God.
19. "Spiritual Armour, Weapons and Warfare", explains the nature of our warfare and how the Armour counters the attacks of Satan.
20. "The Gifts of the Holy Spirit", explains the nature and operation of the gifts.
21. "How to Know God's Will", shows the different ways in which God's will can be recognized.
22. "Praise and Worship", deals with the principles and application for the Church and individual believers.
23. "Tithing" or the giving of 10% of one's income, was practiced before the giving of the Law in the Old Testament and is considered a normal Church activity, which promises specific blessings.
24. "Put off the Old and Put on the New", explains the Change in habits that needs to take place in the life of a new believer.
25. "Kingdom Living", explains the difference between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness and the believer's responsibility to the new Kingdom.
26. "Church Discipline", explains the principles involved in resolving conflicts and offences in the Body of Christ.
27. "The Marks of a True Disciple", identifies the characteristics that distinguishes true disciples from false ones.
The "How To" series of five practical teachings is an application of Jesus' own commission in Luke 4:18, which includes ministry in body, soul and spirit. It is an attempt to encourage believers to begin doing the work of ministry.
The first part of the BCC seeks to lay the legal ground for one's relationship with the Lord. Out of this relationship comes a fuller understanding of the believer's covenant ratified with blood. Within this framework lies the believer's authority, as a covenant partner with God, who is equipped with various pieces of spiritual armour and spiritual weapons in order to bring about the Kingdom of God by seeking to know the will of God.
"How to Minister Salvation", is a practical presentation of the Gospel based on the teaching BCC 02, "God's Plan of Redemption".
The five "How to…" teachings not only reflect the very heart of Jesus in ministry, but also practically apply the principles of obedience, faith, authority and Holy Spirit gifting.
28. "How to Minister Salvation", is a chronological presentation of the Gospel, which makes it easy to remember, but also uses the Evangelism Explosion 111 layout as a basis.
29. "How to Minister Deliverance", explains the basics of deliverance from demonic powers and applies it practically.
30. "How to Minister Inner Healing", explains the basics of introducing Jesus into the past traumatic memory experiences of people in order to bring about emotional healing.
31. "How to Minister the Baptism of the Holy Spirit", is a practical application of BCC 10 and includes helpful advice.
32. "How to Minister Physical Healing", explains healing, not as part of the Atonement in the way that salvation is, but issuing forth from the Atonement of Jesus. Healing is not automatic when one gets saved; there are conditions to meet. However, people are often healed at the same time when they do come to salvation.
